IDENTIFIED! -This handsome group of bowlers was pictured in a recent Sentinel history page with several of the men unidentified. Dorothy Hofbauer of L'Anse tracked down the names and story behind the photo. From l-r are Smitty Otti, Earl Numinen, Jack Givogre, Joe Oravec and Bob Meyer. They were part of a state highway department survey crew and worked with Dorothy's late husband, George. The crew had an office in the old post office building. The photo is believed to date from about 1949. This picture appeared in the Sentinel Dec. 31, 2002 and January 29, 2003. |
