Ann Mytty of L’Anse submitted the photo shown above and the following information about the former Nite Owl restaurant in L’Anse
This picture is over 52 years old. The first Nite Owl was owned by Ed Aho. The picture is of Ann Monson Mytty and Jean Soli Giddings. All the frying was done on the front grill, while soups and pasties were made in the back. On the left-hand side, sitting, is Raymond Fry of Aura, who is now deceased. On the right is a bus driver, identity unknown. At the time of this picture, Ann was working for Ida and Irving Brown.
The picture below is about a week old, and shows Jerita LaPlante on the left and Arlene Kemppainen on the right. The former Nite Owl is now named Shabee’s after owner Shannon Fish and her sister-in-law, Beth Fish. Shannon Fish purchased the business around Valentine’s Day from Kathy Thompson. Shabee’s recently added a salad bar to its menu, and still serves up timeless favorites including pasties and homemade bakery. |
