SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

Top ratings at state
|
The L’Anse Symphony Band couldn’t have done much better at
the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) state level of
competition. The band came home with a top “one” rating. The event was
held April 25 in Cedarville on the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula.
District band director Aaron Poniatowski (far left) said the group’s hard
work of the past three years has finally paid off. She said one of her
favorite comments from the event’s judges was how a band of 14 students
could have the overall sound of a group twice the size!

SEND
US MILITARY UPDATES
Readers are encouraged to send in photos of family members serving in the Armed Services and deployed for the Iraq conflict.
Photographs can be scanned at our office and returned to you immediately if so desired. They may also be dropped off, mailed or e-mailed to
sentinel@up.net. A brief bio is also required. It should include the military member’s name and rank, what division of Armed Services they are serving in, where they are stationed or
deployed and any related job description if applicable. If desired and available, a postal and/or e-mail address can be included. Listing any local relations is also encouraged.
Pictures will be published in both the newspaper and featured on our web site
www.lansesentinel.com. E-mailed photos should be in .jpeg (.jpg) or .tiff (.tif) format and the best scanned quality available. The higher the file size, the better the quality of reproduction. File sizes of 300 or more megabites will reproduce very well. Anything smaller and reproduction quality is sacrificed. Bitmap files are also acceptable but not preferred.
Anyone with questions may call Editor Barry Drue at the Sentinel office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m or send an e-mail to his attention at
sentinel@up.net.
